Reeves Hardware Company
Reeves Hardware Company founded in 1928 by Lewis F. Reeves Sr. on the corner of Main Street and Savannah Street in downtown Clayton, GA. He and his wife Ruby had four children that worked for the company. Lewis Sr. followed his fathers footsteps and became president of 1st National Bank of Habersham County, and Lewis Reeves Jr. became president of Reeves Hardware Company. Lewis Jr. had three sisters who all had active roles as the second generation owners.
As the family grew, nine of the 3rd generation made their careers as employees and managers of the Reeves Company. Reeves hardware now has five locations and recently purchased the Summer House in Highlands North Carolina to compliment the furniture and home goods offering. Reeves Hardware is a major supplier to the home building industry in the North Georgia and Western North Carolina area. Reeves employs over 140 employees and is moving towards a fourth generation of family management.
